Things Accomplished Today – Zero

Nothing was done today. But it is with good reason.

I am trying to write a minimum of 500 a day, hoping to actually hit 1000. I fell short yesterday on the 1000. Today I don’t think I will even make the 500.  My brain is fried!
Up at too early o’clock this morning. S.O.’s Mom was having knee replacement surgery early this morning and we needed to be there at 6 something. After all her stuff was done, surgery done, and meeting her up in her room it was near Noon. We left her about 3 or so as he still had to put in a few hours of  work. Plus we had to make sure the dogs hadn’t totally destroyed the house having not been out since about 5 AM.

We are both wiped out! The dogs bless them, only had 2 relatively small messes. Thank the Gods!  I came home and threw dinner together (chicken and rice casserole, it’s what sounded good.) Caught up on a couple of shows. And now quite honestly I am so ready to pass out! But it’s barely 8 PM and if I do that I will be up at too early o’clock again.

They are all impressed at how well she is doing after surgery. She has to be able to bend it to a 90 degree angle by next week and she can already do 75-80 degrees.  She was able to walk from her room to the nurse’s station and back.  We get to pick her and bring her home tomorrow as long as she stays on track over night.

Well, no I did try to do some crochet while waiting for the doctor to come to us after the surgery. I tried making another Granny Square. I had to unravel it several times to correct mistakes. Then I did the second round and thought I was doing good, but I think I messed up at the very end of that round. I can’t figure out what if anything I did do wrong. And then, I couldn’t remember how to do the last round. I also brought along my daughter’s scarf that I started oh about 8 or 9 years ago.  But after I saw how I could hardly concentrate on a square, there was no way I was going to attempt her scarf even though it is a very simple pattern.  I tried to read on my Kindle (so I didn’t have to carry a heavy book or even pick one to bring).  I have Outlander on it up to book 7, but even that I couldn’t focus on.

So sitting and waiting it was. Until we met her in her room. I was surprised at how alert she was 45 minutes post op.    I never saw any one immediately after a surgery.  I know every surgery and person is different. But still, I was surprised.

The poor dogs! They don’t know what to think. When we got home they kept running back to the car looking for her.  Now they are pretty much just moping because she isn’t home.  Tomorrow will be a challenge to keep them from jumping on her. But, maybe not. Because they did really well when she came home after her shoulder surgery in July. I think all will be will.

Oh look at that! I passes 500 words! And I don’t even think I rambled too terribly much.
